The Walking Dead: Which Major Character Just Died in the Season 6 Finale. This post contains frank discussion of the season six finale of The Walking Dead. If you haven’t watched all 9. Last Day on Earth,” now is your chance to leave.

Despite the fact that show runner Scott Gimple promised some “hard left turns” from the comic books this year, almost anyone paying attention to Walking Dead chatter expected that a major and beloved character would die in the Season 6 finale. Maybe it wouldn’t be the same character who dies in the comic books, but in order to pay off their promise that Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is the worst villain The Walking Dead has ever seen, the writers had to give his arrival some major, lethal consequences.

It’s been a season- long guessing game. Would the beloved character who Negan kills in the comic books be the one to die in the finale? Or would The Walking Dead writers slot someone else into that place? Turns out, they did neither. Overly- invested fans of The Walking Dead have suspected for a little while now that the season finale would end on a cliffhanger. Series star Lauren Cohansaid as much a few weeks ago. And a month ago Andrew Lincoln dropped a big hint on the Empire podcast saying that the finale made him “angry and then I sort of felt sick.

I felt nauseous. I felt frustrated and all these kind of things and I think it’s exactly what we hope the audience will feel as well. We’ve never done what we do in this season finale . I think it’s very clear.” He’s right about everything—especially that they’ve “never done” this before—except when it comes to clarity. Related: Why The Walking Dead Is About to Look a Lot Like Game of Thrones. Following up on the tone they set with Glenn’s mid- season fake- out death, The Walking Dead writers have constructed another puzzle for their viewers to unravel.

A major character death mystery in the season finale certainly kept Game of Thrones a hot topic of conversation in the off- season. Can you blame The Walking Dead for wanting to get in on that Jon Snow action?) Andrew Lincoln says that the finale cliffhanger “woke me up in the middle of the night and I couldn’t go back to sleep I was so angry and frustrated.” If you, like Lincoln, are tossing and turning thanks to The Walking Dead, here are solid some theories as to who met Lucille in season finale. As mentioned above, the series is no stranger to teasing audiences with the prospect of killing off Glenn. But even though The Walking Dead didn’t show who dies, if you pay extremely close attention to the audio in the final moments of Negan’s lethal encounter with Rick’s crew, you might hear a hint that this finally is the end for Steven Yeun.

Though it’s not for certain, one particular line seems to be Glenn’s dying words from the comics: “Mag- Maggie?” Add to that what seems to be Lauren Cohan screaming the loudest and you have one tragic end for the expectant parents. This is where Glenn exits the comics so it would make sense for Yeun to take his leave from the show. In the books, Glenn’s death pays off big time in the ascension of Maggie as a single mom and a badass leader in her own right.

And given how hard Glenn had to fight over and over again to re- unite with both Maggie and his unborn child, it would be perfectly on- brand for The Walking Dead to pull the rug out right when his happy ending (as exemplified by that shower scene last week) finally arrived. They breathed a sigh of relief when Enid snipped Maggie’s hair in the context of the show last week, but in the comics, Maggie cut her hair off in order to mourn Glenn. So does this premature haircut mean it’s not Glenn who dies after all? And if not, whose death would cause an equivalent amount of anguish amongst fans?

The answer, clearly, is Daryl Dixon. He’s got one foot in the grave anyway. Since he’s not a character in the comics, Daryl has been ripe for the killing since the start.

He could go at any time and not really change the adaptation one way or another. With Norman Reedus headlining a new AMC reality series— Ride with Norman Reedus—there has been plenty of speculation that this could be it for Daryl. Like Glenn before him, Daryl had a fake out death this season when Dwight shot him in shoulder and spattered the camera with Dixon blood. Commitment to another show and an air of unpredictability around his survival? Daryl is the perfect candidate. Reedus himself said of watching the finale, “I couldn’t speak after I watched it.

And, of course, I knew what was happening, and what was going to happen, and who was involved, but I got to tell you, I couldn’t speak for like an hour. And then I just was bombarded with phone calls on my drive home. But that was a rough, rough, rough cut.” Add to all this the fact that Reedus is one of the guests on The Walking Dead after- show Talking Dead (a spot usually reserved for parting cast members) and we just might have to face up to the fact that Daryl has lived a lot longer than he should have. The Walking Dead even spent an episode on Abraham’s love affair with a military jacket.

At first I thought it was nice of The Walking Dead to give Michael Cudlitz opportunity to show off his dramatic chops. But then I remembered that a show as brutal as The Walking Dead is never nice. It’s much more likely The Walking Dead writers wanted audiences to feel attached to Abraham so they’d miss him that much more when he dies at the hands of Negan. It wouldn’t be the first time The Walking Dead pulled this narrative trick. Beth (Emily Kinney) was a supporting character for three seasons until she was promoted to major player and Daryl’s quasi- love interest in Season 5. A similar fate befell Tyreese (Chad Coleman) after he stepped up to become Carol’s traveling buddy.

Soon enough he was zombie chow. And like the other candidates on this list—Daryl and Glenn—Abraham doesn’t have any more comic book story left. He was supposed to die from an arrow through the eye a few episodes ago.

The writers put Denise in his place. Why would they need to keep Abraham alive? Maybe Denise had to take the arrow so Abraham could take the bat. Abraham certainly isn’t as beloved as the characters listed above, but there’s one more piece of evidence that Cudlitz might be on his way out.

Last year, Cudlitz tweeted to Josh Mc. Dermitt (Eugene) that he . Showtime Full An American Affair Online Free. The actor then changed the text to remove the controversial language. Some called it nothing, but I call it a slip. But Didn’t. SEASON 1: The first time we’re introduced to a cheeky good- natured pizza delivery boy named Glenn (and his adorable baseball cap), he goes out of his way to riskily save Rick, who gets himself stuck in a military tank surrounded by walkers.

His rescue proves successful but leads to Glenn and his group being helplessly surrounded by an endless horde of walkers after their gunshots become the closest thing to a dinner bell for these angelic little flesh- eaters. It’s only when Rick creates a makeshift camouflage of walker guts that they make it out alive. Photo: Courtesy of AMC. SEASON 2: A bloated well walker resembling Jabba the Hutt almost kills Glenn and simultaneously makes everyone lose their lunch. Haven’t there been enough horror movies with creatures in wells for all of us, Glenn included, to know better? Photo: Courtesy of AMC. SEASON 3: One of the more heartbreaking moments of the show is when Glenn and Maggie are taken hostage at the Governor’s base and separated from one another, with Glenn left to assume the worst about Maggie.

And if things couldn’t get any worse, Merle releases a particularly nasty- looking walker on Glenn, who quite literally has his hands behind his back, tied down to a chair. In true Glenn form, he manages to escape, releasing the loudest He- Man roar of the season. Photo: Courtesy of AMC. SEASON FOUR: With an ominous virus plaguing the prison, Glenn falls ill, leading to a scene where Maggie finds a blood- gurgling and barely conscious Glenn. He’s eventually saved by a Hershel- meets- House M.
