It's Time Marvel Revives The Fantastic Four. Comic book legend Alex Ross could be teasing the Fantastic Four‘s return to comics. Nowadays, everyone – even casual moviegoers – knows about the Avengers and their quest to safeguarding the planet from extraterrestrial threats. The thing is, they aren’t the only superhero team to appear in Marvel Comics. In fact, the first team the iconic comic book publisher launched was the Fantastic Four in 1. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The team not only influenced other comics but took the industry in a new direction.

Unfortunately, the comic series, like all comic books over time, had faced its ups and downs – and in 2. Marvel Comics ended up canceling the series altogether. In the aftermath of the Secret Wars story arc, the team had essentially been disbanded, with the members either attempting to restore the multiverse or working alongside other teams, such as the Guardians of the Galaxy. But, fans of the Fantastic Four have been hoping that the publisher would eventually resurrect the team, and it looks like it might actually happen. Recently, the publisher announced they would be putting out another Marvel Two- In- One series, this time focusing on Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm as they try to uncover what happened to Reed Richards and Sue Storm.

The decision to cancel the Fantastic Four comics was controversial, to say the least, so hinting at the family reunion undoubtedly excited many fans. Now, to add fuel to the fire, comic book artist Alex Ross posted a (now removed) sketch on Instagram of Reed and Sue, which fans believe could be an indication of the team’s impending revival. The image can still be viewed on Reddit.

The sketch heavily resembled the team’s classic uniforms, but the logos on Reed and Sue’s chests appear to have been upgraded along with the suits’ accents. Since the image has been removed, it’s unclear what Ross was trying to showcase. Perhaps the sketch is something he wanted to do for fun, or perhaps it’s really the cover of the first Fantastic Four comic in years, which Marvel may be waiting to announce. After all, New York Comic Con is just around the corner and Marvel always goes big at the annual convention.

Furthermore, it’s about time the publisher brought back the First Family. Sure, despite the Fantastic Four remaining staples in the comics, 2. Century Fox has failed to replicate the team’s success on the big screen. But, just because the studio couldn’t achieve glory with the family on the silver screen, doesn’t mean they are giving up anytime soon. Rather than focus on making more Fantastic Four movies, Fox has their eyes set on making a standalone Doctor Doom movie with Legion executive producer Noah Hawley at the helm. In fact, FX’s Legion marked the first instance in which Fox and Marvel Studios collaborated with one another on an X- Men/Fantastic Four property. Considering their rocky past, working together on the TV series was certainly a step in the right direction.

Now, with Stan Lee openly discussing wanting to reacquire the movie and TV rights to the X- Men and the Fantastic Four, it’s about time that the comic book publisher brings the superhero team back in the comics as well.
